BDMA members attended the stakeholders’ meet organised by the Diamond Hub, Ministry of Minerals & Energy, to discuss Labour and Immigration matters and policy development in presece of the Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Lt. General Pius Mokgware. He delivered the keynote speech to the stakeholders. He gave the industry an opportunity to discuss and share information on areas including immigration requirements, skills development, work permits, and compliance. He acknowledged that the productivity of Botswana is negative 0.44% compared to global statistics. He also encouraged 24 hours of work in 3 shifts to increase productivity in Botswana.

While The Minister of Minerals and Energy, Hon. Bogolo Joy Kenwewndo, and the PS to Minerals Mr. Pelaelo Khowe assured the stakeholders of the government’s efforts on the recently introduced import tariffs, which affect the industry as the highest contributor to the imports into the US.
