Jwaneng Mine recently hosted the members of Botswana Diamond Manufacturers Association (BDMA). The visit allowed the BDMA members to gain a deeper appreciation of the source of the diamond mine where they come from. The members got an indepth knowledge of the diamond value chain.

BDMA members were welcomed by the Jwaneng Mine General Manager, Mr. Goitseone Gadifele, who presented an overview of the mine — highlighting the impact the mine has made on the communities around the mine and also, its impact on the nation and its people, and the vision for the future.

On behalf of the BDMA, Chairman Mr. Siddarth Gothi expressed the team’s gratitude for the opportunity to witness firsthand where Botswana’s precious stones come from. He further noted that they were grateful to have been taken through all the mine processes, as BDMA members are deeply familiar with the journey from receiving rough to polishing.

The BDMA and its members commend the mine’s leadership for its robust safety measures, as well as its inclusive approach in hiring women and persons with disabilities. Which is much aligned with what we do in the Midstream diamond industry.
